Ten Doctors Gave Me Ten Opinions-All DifferentIt is a very important to understand that all doctors and medical professionals are simply offering their opinion when they are assessing an illness or injury. His or her training and experiences decide every doctor’s opinion. There is tremendous confusion and disagreement in the area of chronic pain and injury. If a person suffers then from a pain condition that has many symptoms, the probability of multiple diagnosis is very likely. This does not mean that any of the physicians were incorrect but does indicate that their diagnosis may not be complete. The very same problem happened to me. Seven years ago when I suffered neck and back injuries, I saw many specialists. The neurologists thought that I had carpal tunnel syndrome and ulnar neuritis. The orthopaedic surgeon suggested that I had several degenerative disks. The rheumatologist said that I had fibromyalgia and arthritis and the physiotherapists thought that I had repetitive strain injury. The answer was that I had diffuse muscle injury and scarring of many spinal segments which caused several vertebrae, disks and nerves to be compressed and entrapped in my neck, mid back and low back. These neuropathies or pinched nerves, caused many muscle disorders in my legs and arms, which in turn, caused arthritis and various other pain syndromes in my head and limbs. The proper medical diagnosis is based upon one major cause. In my case it should have been that I had diffuse myofascial pain and dysfunction causing polyneuropathy. Chronic pain is also potentially preventable and reversible with a proper stretching program such as The Lamb Program™. Watch for more on back pain on DrLamb.com.
