Whiplash Prevention & Pain Treatment The average car driver can expect to have about one car accident every seven years. Many will suffer minor or even major whiplash injuries. Whiplash commonly refers to neck and back injuries that usually happen in car accidents. The actual mechanics of the injury are very complex. In the more common rear-end accident, there is a very fast backward movement of the neck and spine followed by sudden forward movement of the neck and spine. This action of the spine is a whip quickly backward and forward, thus a whiplash. A front-end accident has the exact opposite physics of fast forward and slow backward movement. All accidents and their drivers are different, but, in general, the new research demonstrates that deep spinal muscles are injured in car accidents causing a group of conditions called myofascial pain disorders. These pain disorders can then contribute to various forms of chronic pain including headache, arm and neck pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, sleep disorders, and ever increasing problems called fibromyalgia and RSI. The good news is that many of these conditions are now potentially reversible with new needle technologies and exercise program like The Lamb Program™. The better news is that they are more and more preventable with new car technologies such as bumpers, front and side air bags, collapsible steering columns and the new whiplash restraint system that is present in the new Volvo S 80. With the arrival of new injury prevention technologies, one day, whiplash and its pain disorders may be a thing of the past. Click Here For Whiplash Stretching Video |
